PACT Act

    

Here’s a snapshot of the changes the PACT Act will bring for veterans:

  • Expands and extends eligibility for VA health care for veterans with toxic exposures and veterans of the Vietnam, Gulf War, and post-9/11 era
  • Adds more than 20 new presumptive conditions for burn pits and other toxic exposures
  • Adds more presumptive-exposure locations for Agent Orange and radiation
  • Requires VA to provide a toxic exposure screening to every veteran enrolled in VA health care
  • Helps improve research, staff education and treatment related to toxic

Did You Know the long-term side effects of the penicillin G benzathine injection, commonly referred to as the “Peanut Butter shot” in the military, can include: Neurological issues such as headaches, dizziness, and nerve problems; Hematological issues like low blood cell counts; Renal issues which may affect kidney function; Cardiovascular problems including blood clots in the lung; Allergic reactions that can range from mild to severe, including anaphylaxis and Musculoskeletal problems such as muscle weakness that can be sudden and progressing into old age.
