Q464:  In 2011, I had heard about CLCW (Camp Lejeune Contaminated Water).  At the time there were some 260 disabilities that were found to be related to CLCW.  I was told they were only granting medical services to those who had related disabilities. Not really knowing which ones I had related, I filed a claim of all my disabilities (total of 31) and what came back was for me to register to be added to the CLCW database to be contacted with any future information and was assigned a VAMC group level. With this group level, I no longer had to pay for any VAMC medication co-pays as well as qualified for travel pay.  What also took place was that on eBenefits under Disabilities it listed my disabilities that were identified as "Environmental Hazard - Camp Lejeune".  All were also identified as NSC (to me meaning no compensation only medical).  Five of these were given VA Rating totally 100% and yet still said NSC.  My question is why wasn’t I given a VA Rating on these?

A1:  Short answer - because that is how Congress wrote the law that requires the DoD and VA to deal with the issue. Medical care only, for military, dependents, and base employees exposed to the contaminated water.  (DJ)  7/14/20

A2:  I suggest you see an Accredited VSO with the Am Legion, VFW, AmVets, DAV or other Service Organization. They will assist you in understanding the Camp Lejeune contamination. They will assist you in filing a claim.  (GH)  7/14/20
