Q423:  I have been in my house for over 20 years and now I need help.  I served in Vietnam in the mid 60s.  I have bad dreams about my days in Vietnam almost weekly, I see things around my house that make me nervous, and I am easily startled by loud noises in my neighborhood.  This may be strange, but so many things remind me of Vietnam these days I can hardly think about anything else.  I draw social security to get by, I live in a house given to me by my parents.  Here’s my question, can the VA send someone to my house to help me with a claim?  I have no driver’s license, no automobile, I don’t drive, and I don’t think I have been away from my house in over 20 years.

A1:  Contact the local DAV or American Legion Service Officer, to see if they will go to your house.  (MB)  5/23/20

A2:  I recommend you contact a veterans service organization like DAV, VFW, American Legion or other veterans service organizations. Some will send a Service Officer to your home. Some will not due to liability issues. Your state's Department of Veterans Affairs is a good source because many have VSOs that do cater to home bound. Also if you have a POA with a service organization an Accredited VSO can take your claim over the phone.  (GH)  5/23/20
