A1: YYes there is, go to your VSO and file a claim. (WH) 5/8/20
A2: You need to see a Veteran Service Officer. VFW, TREA, or other military org. They will help fill out a claim to the VA. You should receive a percentage for disability. You should also request a VA hearing test. Any additional hearing aids will be furnished by the VA. Good Luck! (MK) 5/8/20
A3: Yes, if yo file a claim for compensation. Go to the American Legion, VFW, DAV or other Service Organization. Ask to see an accredited VSO and he will assist you in filing a claim. (GH) 5/8/20
A4: Getting compensation for hearing loss is extremely difficult. I went years trying to get compensation and was repeatedly turned down. My VA audiologist finally recommended I take the tinnitus course because of constant ringing in my ears. I was awarded 10 percent for that issue. After a few more years and further hearing loss they awarded 10 percent . For me this took twenty years to get compensation. I was awarded service connection right from the beginning with zero compensation. I would recommend you visit a service VSO such as VFW, American Legion or your State VSO. Good luck! (RM) 5/8/20
A5: There is no single answer. Yes, you can be compensated if evaluated by the VA and approved for treatment and/or compensation. Apply for it. There is no penalty for trying. The VA provided me with high quality hearing aids based on service connection and need. (TM) 5/8/20
A6: See your local VSO. I was in Arty in 61-62,and had hearing lost, received VA comp. Stay the course. (MH) 5/8/20
A7: Yes, please email me and provide me you contact number. This is what I do all day long. Help veterans obtain their benefits. (TH) 5/8/20
A8: Took me 7 years to get service connected. It will depend strongly on where you file. Some areas are reasonable, others very difficult. (AZ) 5/8/20
A9: I have hearing loss as well. When I went for a C&P exam after claiming it, I was told by the Doctor these words; "I don't know of any veteran who has a hearing loss being in the military", They will normally give you hearing aids and no compensation granted unless it is really bad. What you can do to get compensation is file for Tinnitus (10%) if you happen to have ranging or constant sounds in your ears. (AM) 5/8/20
A10: Abolutely, 21-526ez and do a 21-4138 to remind VA you were in artillery. You probably have tinnitus, ringing in the ears, since then, so claim that too. (DS) 5/8/20
A11: Definitly, clain it and get evaluated, I was also an artillery man and got it! (RR) 5/8/20
A12: Hearing loss and tinnitus are basis for disability compensation. (RR) 5/9/20
A13: The answer is simple yet complicated. Simply put, it all depends on what is in your military medical records.
If you have evidence in the record of acoustic trauma, your claim will be settled in your favor.
If there is no evidence but you went to a civilian doctor within a year or so of discharge and complained about your hearing issues, it MIGHT be possible to win a claim.
If you never complained in the service and you have significant gap between your date of discharge and your provable date of complaint, you have very little chance of getting the claim approved. (RJ) 5/11/20
