Q391:  I am the in-remarried spouse of a Vet. We currently have a VA loan.  My question: What should I do to qualify for the lower interest rate on a refinance?

A1:  This can be a good time to refinance at a lower rate or even a purchase using the VA Loan. Be very careful not to do a forbearance and defer payments because that can blow you out of water for eligibility for a new loan. Whether you were going to refinance or were you going to purchase continue making the payments normally or you will not be eligible for a loan for a minimum of 12 months after that last late payment. And the difficulty is if you defer three payments all four payments are due the beginning of the fourth month rarely can people do it!  (BB)  4/18/20
