Q357: What exactly is ischemic heart disease? I have heart problems and my doctor diagnosed me with ischemic heart disease. He couldn’t really tell me what it was in clear and plain English, but he said all Vietnam veterans have it or will get it. He said it was related to Agent Orange exposure. Is that true?
If you have a question about benefits, compensation, pension or VA related issues please submit here.

A1: Ischemic heart disease is a disease the VA has on their presumptive list . If you were boots on the ground in Viet Nam the VA will assume that Ischemic heart disease is caused by Agent Orange exposure and you should qualify for compensation. Ischemic heart disease is clogging of your arteries or veins. Bypass surgery and stent implants are common treatments for IHD. Go see a Veteran's Group andfile with the VA for compensation. You will need a copy of your DD 214. DAV, American Legion and/or state VA officers can help you file. (TC) 2/9/20
