Q353: How does one go about getting reimbursed for non-VA emergency room treatment? I had a heart attack, the nearest VA hospital was over 100 miles away and the nearby clinic was closed. I was told that since it was not service-connected I wasn’t covered. I have since been granted VA disability for heart disease. Is there a form or other means of getting reimbursed?
If you have a question about benefits, compensation, pension or VA related issues please submit here.

A1: If your claim for heart disease was filed before you had the trip to emergency room contact the VA on Atlanta Georgia to get repaid for that. (GR) 2/1/20
